The ASAP Educational Programme was created to support teachers and educators in this task — offering a flexible, creative and metacognitive pathway for preadolescents aged 11 to 13.
At its heart are six Learning Units, each one combining reflection, creativity and dialogue. They guide students to explore what it means to grow up “onlife” — between the online and offline worlds — and to understand not just what they do on social media, but why they do it.

Each Learning Unit combines reflection, creativity, and dialogue, inviting students aged 11–13 to explore digital life through their own experiences:
Authenticity & Authority: Unmasking misinformation
Students learn to evaluate the credibility of online information, identify reliable sources, and practise fact-checking to fight misinformation..
Emotions: Understanding what we feel online
Activities that help students recognise, express and regulate the emotions they experience while using social media.
Empathy, awareness and emotional literacy are at the centre of this unit.
Communication: Building bridges with empathy and assertiveness
Focused on listening, perspective-taking and assertive behaviour, this unit strengthens students’ interpersonal and social skills both online and offline.
Role Models: Who inspires me online and why?
Students reflect on influence, popularity, and authenticity — learning to recognise how role models shape self-image and online behaviour.
Onlife: Blurring the boundaries between online and offline
This unit helps students understand that the digital and real worlds are interconnected — promoting responsible and balanced participation in both.
Power of Questions: Learning to ask before judging
Through curiosity and dialogue, preadolescents develop critical thinking and metacognitive awareness, discovering how good questions lead to deeper understanding.
Together, these six Learning Units form a coherent journey toward critical thinking, empathy and responsible digital citizenship.
They invite students to slow down, to think before reacting, and to become more aware of their feelings, choices and the impact they have on others.
By integrating these activities into everyday school life, teachers can turn social media from a source of distraction into an opportunity for growth and dialogue.
The materials are free and ready to use — a small but powerful step toward helping the next generation think, feel and act wisely in their digital world. 🌍💬
